Prior to that was Pyle (1st station), a matter discussed last year, ...but to continue next on the next line of this journey....the Swansea District Line.....
I may be some time in setting the next journey, as one of the neighbours has asked me to visit and enjoy a festive glass or two of her home-made mulled festive season drink and home-made mince pies.
The journey starts at the closed station of Stockton (Clarence)
It follows the line of the Clarence Railway
It then follows the line of the NER Leamside Line...via Shincliffe
It then follows the line of the Stanhope and Tyne Railway...via Washington (2nd station)...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Weardale Extension Railway...via Saltersgate Cottage...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Deerness Valley Railway...via Waterhouses
It then follows the line of the North Eastern Railway Main Line...via Plawsworth
It then follows the line of the NER Durham Coast Line...via Pelaw (2nd station)
It then follows the line of the Stockton and Darlington Railway...via Fighting Cocks
It then follows the line of the Darlington and Barnard Castle Railway...via Piercebridge
It then follows the line of the South Durham & Lancashire Union Railway...via Barnard Castle (2nd station)
It then follows the line of the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway...via Tebay...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the FR Hincaster Branch Line...via Heversham
It then follows the line of the Ulverstone (sic) and Lancaster Railway...via Wraysholme Halt
It then follows the line of the Furness Railway...via Lindal...via Furness Abbey
It then follows the line of the Coniston Railway...via Broughton-in- Furness
The journey ends at the closed station of Coniston
The first closed station on this journey is Stockton (Clarence)
(Note: sources suggest that Stillington station on the Clarence Railway had two different locations and I have checked and verified this on old OS maps. It's a new one on me so I will PM @Xenophon PCDGS the details and see what he thinks.)
