That was a terminal station of the short branch line of the Wigtownshire Railway, but there are still two closed stations to name on the running line in of that railway. Refer to the journey preamble for clarification.

Wednesday to Friday this week see me making many medical and personal visits, yesterday I was seeing a particular specialist at the large infirmary in Wigan and did not return home, absolutely "spent" after 19:00.

It then follows the line of the NSR Potteries Loop Line...via Kidsgrove Liverpool Road
It then follows the line of the NSR Congleton to Stoke-on-Trent Line...via Etruria
It then follows the line of the NSR Crewe to Derby Line...via Carter's Crossing Halt
It then follows the line of the GNR Derbyshire and Staffordshire Extension...via Etwall
It then follows the line of the LNER Leen Valley Line...via Bulwell Forest
It then follows the line of the LD&ECR Beighton Branch Line...via Shirebrook North
It then follows the line of the North Midland Railway...via Woodhouse Mill'...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Hull and Barnsley Railway...via Cudworth...also via Hemsworth and South Kirby....NOTE THIS ROUTING
The journey ends at the closed station of Hull Cannon Street

The first closed station on this journey is Kirkburton
