I had a feeling that matters would go astray as Lambley had connections with both the Brampton Railway and the Alston Branch Line of which Coanwood was one of its stations, but the line we are on is that of the Brampton Railway which in its early days was also known as "Lord Carlisle's Railway".

To help matters, the next closed station on the Brampton Railway is.......

Halton Lea Gate

Kirkhouse? (Not sure about this one -- Mr. Dewick gets in on the act; not always a good sign !)

I did come across that particular name as being on the steep inclined gravity operated section that was obviated by the direct line between the closed station of Halfbankgate and the line connection point with the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway at Brampton. My researches show mineral railway trains using that settlement, but I could not trace a passenger station there.

As we now have joined the line of the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, the direction we will follow takes us to the closed station of.....

Naworth
