We next move to England for the next journey.....

This is number 922 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of Astley
It follows the line of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway
It then follows the line of the North Union Railway
It then follows the line of the Lancaster and Preston Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway
It then follows the line of the Furness and Midland Joint Railway
It then follows the line of the "Little" North Western Railway
It then follows the line of the Leeds and Bradford Extension Railway...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the GNR Keighley to Queensbury Line
It then follows the line of the Halifax and Ovenden Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the LYR Halifax to Sowerby Bridge Line
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Leeds Railway
It then follows the line of the LYR Copy Pit Line
It then follows the line of the Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Colne Extension Railway...via the Great Harwood loop line
It then follows the line of the Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe and West Yorkshire Railway
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Bolton Railway
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Leeds Railway
It then follows the line of the Ashton, Stalybridge and Liverpool Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the LNWR Huddersfield to Leeds Line
The journey ends at the closed station of Leeds Central

The first closed station on this journey is Astley

HALT CALLED

When we left the line of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to access the North Union Railway, the first closed station we would have met was that of.....

Lowton

After that closed station, there was a very short-lived temporary station that closed in 1902.....

Haydock Racecourse
