Note: Fawley had two station sites, the first immediately south of Fawley Tunnel, shown on the 1888 1:2500 OS map, and the second about 400m further south, as shown on the 1904 edition of the same map. Can I put this forward for consideration for future journeys by this route?

I have looked at a number of sources with regards to the railway station of Fawley, but the only information I have seen states an opening date in 1855 immediately south of the tunnel (in the position shown on the Wikipedia line template) and a closure date of 2nd November 1964. Would the second one you mention be that of a a goods handling facility constructed away from the station site?

I am wondering if it was necessary to call in at Cinderford New in order to leave one line and to access the next line

The Forest of Dean is largely a mystery to me (after all, it's where Hagrid in "Harry Potter" allegedly comes from). I bow to whatever wiser heads than mine, decide.
