We next move to Scotland for the next journey.....

This is number 785 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of North Leith
It follows the line of the Edinburgh, Leith and Newhaven Railway
It then follows the line of the Edinburgh Suburban and Southside Junction Railway...via Piershill (only a short line section)
It then follows the line of the North British Railway Main Line
It then follows the line of the NER Kelso Branch Line
It then follows the line of the NER Cornhill Branch Line
It then follows the line of the NER Alnwick Branch Line
It then follows the line of the Newcastle and Berwick Railway
It then follows the line of the Wansbeck Railway
It then follows the line of the Border Counties Railway
It then follows the line of the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway...via the North Wylam loop line
It then follows the line of the North Eastern Railway Main Line
It then follows the line of the Great Northern Railway Main Line
It then follows the line of the GN&GEJR Doncaster to Spalding Line
It then follows the line of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway
It then follows the line of the M&GNJR Norwich Branch Line
The journey ends at the closed station of Norwich City

The first closed station on this journey is North Leith

In the modern road atlas, the village is spelt "Cilgerran". As you imply -- in 1875 when the branch was opened, sensitivity on the part of the English overlords toward the Welsh language had yet to be thought of; they spelt Welsh names their way !
