I will have to ask for a ruling on the next station of Barlaston. As I understand it is a "ghost station" served since 2004 by a permanent rail replacement bus service, the platforms being fenced off against public access. It is shown in bus timetables but not, I think, in the railway timetable. It seems you can buy a railway ticket to it, but the bus drops you off five minutes walk away!

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
It was said quite some time ago that as no trains ever use those two stations of Barlaston and Wedgwood, but no official closure had occurred, that neither of those two stations named above were allowed as posting submissions on this particular quiz.

This is a copy of a posting that was made some time ago. Rule 17 applies.

Understood about Barlaston

Stone (1st station)

Stone (1st station - 1848 to 1849) is stated in the Wikipedia entry to have been "next to the Newcastle Road bridge". A quick check on the map shows that the Newcastle Road bridge crosses the line to Norton Bridge Junction rather than the line to Colwich so if Wikipedia is right, I don't think we would have passed it on this journey.
