On my list of things to find out. Just noticed that it's mentioned on the Railscot website.Did anyone find out the opening and closing dates for the first Joppa station?

On the RAILCOT North British Railway article, in the body section, it only mentions the second, not the first station at Joppa, so this is why the line diagram at the start of that article only just mentions Joppa without any clarification.
The first Joppa station is mentioned in that same article under Brunstane. It suggests that Joppa (1st) was on the same site. The map evidence actually suggests it was about 400m further north - but at least it is mentioned!

If the open station of Brunstane, opened as late as 3rd June 2002, was built on the same site as the stated Joppa (1st) station, then no mention of a Joppa (1st) station can be made as so applies to any of the of the earlier closed stations on this quiz where a currently open station now exists on the same site.
That is understood. I compared the position of the current Brunstane station with Joppa (1st) as shown on the 1854 map. They were about 250m apart, as best as I can tell. If we can find opening and closure dates for Joppa 1st I think a reasonable case could be put together, since Rule 4 contains no specific "distance apart" criterion and the two stations were opened at very different times by different railways, with a separation in time of nearly 150 years.
