RULE 5

Stations that have been on different sites, but not in nearby proximity as detailed in rule (4), can be named provided the actual geographical order / order of opening is shown in brackets after the name of the station. NO SET DISTANCE IS INTENDED TO BE USED AS A BENCHMARK DISTANCE FIGURE. Please refer to the Guide Note section at the foot of these rules.

GUIDE NOTE SECTION...RULE 5 CLARIFICATION

Section 1
In response to recent PM received by me with regards to rule 5 shown above, the matter of the more deep and learned railway station historical knowledge of railway stations, where different sites were involved, NOTING THE COMMENT CONCERNING DISTANCES, it is hereby agreed that postings with the knowledge of such matters that state for example, all three of the locations on the closed Long Eaton stations, both the locations of closed railway stations at Waverton on the Crewe and Chester Railway and at Port Dinorwic on the Bangor and Caernarvon Railway WILL be allowed.

ADJUDICATION

Once again, the matter of "distances" that occur between station sites has been raised, noting what is already stated in the rules section, but I must stress that no set distance is to be taken as a benchmark figure, when deciding to make a posting submission. Rule 4 only concerns matters where a station relocation is to the other side of a bridge or a level crossing and I feel that 100 metres should be seen as the MAXIMUM figure to allow such a resiting. Any distance above that should be viewed in the light of what is stated in emboldened capital letters in rule 5.

This station appears to have been just east of the later Lyminster Halt. The old station buildings are shown on OS maps right down to 1972 where they are labelled "Old Station Cottages". Sadly they have now given way to a modern housing development.
