Skipton 1st (1848 - 1876)

Seems there was an even earlier temporary terminus of the L&BER but it's too early to show on the maps I can find.

Kildwick and Crosshills

Subsequent information from DerekC now confirms two station sites here. Amazingly, the first station at Skipton seems to be almost the same distance away from the second station as the distance between the first and second sites at Kildwick and Crosshills.

Do you have a distance of this first site to the second site?

I ask this with Rule 4 in mind.

About 1/4 mile according to Wikipedia and confirmed on old OS maps.

I rechecked the distance on Google Earth using data from the 1889 1:2500 OS map which shows both the old and new stations. Centre to centre is 400m (1/4 mile).

The original terminus of the L&BER in Skipton was the one that actually opened on 7th September 1847 and this was the only early station that my researches into the matter has been able to source and that station was the one that was eventually relocated on 30th April 1876.
