The 1923 OS map shows part of an embankment for a west to south chord at Kings Sutton Junction, but it looks as though it was never completed.

Sorry about Kings Sutton - got so interested in the historical maps that I forgot to check whether it was still open! It's odd because I have travelled along that route on Cross-Country dozens of times without noticing the station.

General Information

Chipping Norton (1st site....1855-1887) was a long single platform station and the terminus of the Chipping Norton Railway and was linked to the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway by a junction in the Kingsbury area. In 1887, when the new second station was opened by the Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway on a curve line continuance of the new line , the first station was then totally demolished and the land was then used for the goods facility of the new line.
