I was wondering if it was possible to reverse at Salford and somewhere before or after this to pass through Oldfield Road or Windsor Bridge (Pendleton) before reaching Pendleton Bridge?

If I am reading it right (having been out all day) you could have reversed at Pendleton Broad Street and gone direct to Agecroft Bridge instead of reversing at Salford Crescent

Might have to go back on that - the crossover between the lines which converge at Brindle Heath Junction was south of Pendeton Broad Street station, I think - at least judging by various OS maps. So the only variation would be to visit Pendleton Broad Street twice, rather than going via Pendleton Bridge.

I was making reference to Salford station, not Salford Crescent, in my earlier query as the last two lines on that journey were the Manchester and Southport Railway, followed by the Manchester and Bolton Railway
