HELP NOTES

The last valid closed station on the line of the Caledonian Railway Main Line that we passed through was that of Glenboig.....See posting # 40003.
From there we pass through the open stations of Coatbridge Central and Whifflet....then we will reach the next closed station on this line

I am still slightly confused. I can see how neither Gartsherrie (CR) nor Garnqueen (NBR) were on our route. Which line did we take through Coatbridge? I was assuming we would join the CR main line at Gartsherrie South Junction - in which case should we not have noted Whifflet (Low Level) and Whifflet (1st station) on our way through? On the other hand- going via the NBR line - the stations at Coatbridge Central and Whifflet are closed - so either way we seem to have missed something.

I think you will find that Flemington preceded Wishaw South....but to continue...

We are NOT using the North British Railway line...as the preamble states, we are on the Caledonian Railway Main Line.

There is mention made at the end of Rule 4 of the quiz rules about Whifflet (1st station) which also covers the matter of the Low Level station there.

I note that Whifflet (1st station) is mentioned in Rule 4, but I would still put in a plea for Whifflet (Low Level) - about 300yd north of the current station.

As regards Flemington, I thought it had been replaced by Shieldmuir - but on closer investigation they are some distance apart.

(1).....RULE 5 CLARIFICATION.....August 2016

In response to recent PM received by me with regards to rule 5 shown above, the matter of the more deep and learned railway station historical knowledge of railway stations, where different sites were involved, it is hereby agreed that postings with the knowledge of such matters that state for example, all three of the locations on the closed Long Eaton stations, both the locations of closed railway stations at Waverton on the Crewe and Chester Railway and at Port Dinorwic on the Bangor and Caernarvon Railway WILL be allowed.

However, noting the very large numbers numbers of relocations that are actually covered by Rule 5 that have so occurred and indeed have been made the subject of a recent thread on this website, it is up to contestants to make a decision as to whether they wish to make such a posting or not.

In the light of certain recent matters, I have caused "Guide Note 1" under the rules of this quiz to be slightly re-worded, as shown above.
