PS - it looks from maps as though we should have travelled from Blackhill to Knitsley without visiting Consett.

PPS - sorry - just realised that there was a Lanchester Valley station at Consett.

The two Consett stations were on two distinctly different lines. The chord that took the train from Blackhill to the Lanchester Valley Railway was the one on which the short-lived Consett station (1862-1867) was situated.

I checked the Wensleydale Railway website which says that re-opening depends on completion of platform work - and it isn't on the timetable - so I am listing it as closed. (Maybe somebody has better local knowledge)

To the best of my knowledge, the works required to bring the station buildings in order was completed on 26th April 2014, bur services did not commence running until 22nd November 2014.

As such, being a re-opened heritage station, it cannot be used on the Closed Stations Journey quiz.

Hmm- I think Scruton is a bit marginal since it isn't in the timetable yet. We would have to ask WR whether they could make a special stop there! It would be a nice trip, but not this year.
