Once again, I knew that there would be problems with the extremely convoluted railway layout of the Newport area and available chords to connect the lines of two railway companies.

Firstly, let me address that subject of Panteg, as this is twice on this particular journey that this station has raised its head in askance.

There were TWO such named stations. The first one being between Sebastopol and Blaendare Road Halt in the mid to upper reaches of the Monmouthshire Railway and Canal and the other one being between Pontypool & New Inn and Sebastopol on the Pontypool, Caerleon and Newport Railway, which is the line that we next take, BUT AT THE OTHER END of that line where Panteg lies (which we eventually will be passing through when we reach the other end of the said line)

After working our way through the Newport stations and using a route traced with a great deal of difficulty where we now connect to the OTHER END of the Pontypool, Caerleon and Newport Railway
