Talacre Foryd looks off route??

[I remember we had a discussion about Foryd last time we came along the North Wales Coast line, in connection with whether it was on the main line or the Vale of Clwyd. For what it's worth, I thought it was on the V of C Rly.]

Talacre Foryd looks off route??

The FIRST Foryd station was on the Vale of Clwyd railway and was the penultimate station before that line joined the Chester and Holyhead Railway.

The SECOND Foryd station was on the line of the Chester and Holyhead Railway.

I thought that this matter had previously been raised and resolved.

I have now deleted my last entry of Coole Pilate. My notes have scattered and I have a sheet out of order.

Can you delete your entry of Audlam, then we can follow on from the correct station of those three that you have nominated.

I think there was Newcastle Crossing before Willaston. Closed in 1918 along with with Gresty though that's all I can find out about either of them.

Anyway Audlem is where we were a few moves back so perhaps continue from there.

Can you check your records with regards to Newcastle Crossing, as I seem to feel that it was between Willaston and Nantwich

I have now stapled all my leg notes on this journey, instead of using a faulty plastic clip fastener. Dont forget that I had deleted Coole Pilate previously, so that should have been the next one

Wiki's Welsh Marches Line map shows Newcastle Crossing between Gresty and Willaston

However looking at a street map of Nantwich there is a level crossing (well probably actually a recent bridge) at Newcastle Road on the eastern outskirts of town which sounds rather more plausible given it's the only Newcastle (Road) I can find in the area

If you see the heading of the line involved in the preamble, it is named the Crewe and Shrewsbury Railway. If you look on the Wikipedia line map on the article named Crewe and Shrewsbury Railway, you will find that Newcastle Crossing is shown as being in-between Willaston and Nantwich. I have a very old hand-drawn line map in my archives that also shows Newcastle Crossing in that position.
