Change here for Baker Street and Banbury

I was intending to follow the rule but had a lapse in concentration

In two minds about that one, and I certainly don't think Oxford Rewley Road would be valid, so just for fun shall we backtrack to the nearest closed station on the Cherwell Valley line - Wolvercot Platform - before continuing south.

Location
A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
I did check the line situation with an engineering drawing and it does seem to show that after Port Meadow Halt, there was a connection with the lines running into the different station in Oxford than the terminal one that you refer to at Rewley Road.

Obviously the current Oxford station has to be disregarded and we now enter upon the line of the Cherwell Valley line where my records shows the first closed station on that line to be......

I think the next closed station is Upton And Blewbury on the DNS

However an aside - there is a connection between Potton (that we passed through earlier today) and Wantage Road (a closed station on the mainline west of Didcot) - and the Didcot Railway Centre. Any guesses?

You are on the right lines - I'll fill in the details if you don't come up with them

Yes - it originally ran on the Sandy and Potton Railway before that was absorbed into the later Bedford - Cambridge line. I believe it was plinthed at Wantage Road station until that closed and then transferred to the railway Centre
