Congratulations to all three of us !!...that last journey is now at an end.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The next journey is a "request" which has been included as part of this journey.....

The journey starts at the open station of Ely
It then follows the line of the Ely and St Ives Railway
It then follows the line of the Cambridge and St Ives branch line
It then follows the line of "The Varsity Line"....this was the "request"
It then follows the line of the Cherwell Valley line
It then follows the line of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway
The journey ends at the open station of Eastleigh

The first closed station on this journey is Stretham

Do you really mean Eastleigh though?

I had made an amendment to the preamble and had accidentally deleted the final line before I said that the final closed station was Eastleigh

I am so pleased that you had noticed this before the quiz commenced and if you look at the preamble again, you will see that the missing line has now been reinstated and says....

It then follows the line of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway

Well the next one should be St Ives

But it's been reopened as a guided busway stop which I would hope doesn't count.

Barnwell Junction first? I'm not sure if it was on the mainline or the Mildenhall branch though

As a matter of general interest, Barnwell Junction was the first station outwards ( 1 mile 56 chains ) on the Cambridge to Mildenhall railway which had eleven railway stations.

Stations that were closed....but then re-opened either by a heritage railway or National Rail...are not allowed to be used on this quiz

Goods stations that have no passenger services are not allowed to be used on this quiz

I have consulted with a railway historian who is very familiar with the area of the quiz in question and have stressed the above are parts of the rules of this quiz (I feel that I must highlight these two sections of the rules, especially with this particular section of the journey in mind).

His ruling is that Stewartby, Millbrook, Lidlington, Ridgemont, Aspley Guise, Woburn Sands, Bow Brickhill, Fenny Stratford and Bletchley are all OPEN stations at this point of time and cannot be allowed to be posted.

I will post.....
