As a matter of interest, is there evidence that Broughton railway station was on a separate site distinct from the slightly later Barton & Broughton? The Wikipedia entries both give the same latitude and longitude references.

Broughton, as such, is said to be a very early station closure in 1840. There have differences of opinion, especially on Wikipedia, regarding the location of the station sites that you mention above for more years than I care to remember, but geographically, the settlement of Barton is further north.

It is noticeable that the Wikipedia text matter on the article on that railway station is contradicted by the Wikipedia RDT. Obviously both sides of the argument cannot agree with each other.
