I can't help wondering whether Southport Ash Street should count separately from St Luke's. Ash Street was replaced by the WLR platforms at St Lukes in 1902 and the new platforms (according to OS 1:2500 map evidence) overlapped with the old ones although slightly further east. The platforms were clearly moved to allow the junction between the Preston and Manchester lines to be modified to allow Preston line trains to run to Chapel Street.

We next move to England for the next journey.....

This is number 864 in the series so far.....

The journey starts at the closed station of Hessay
It follows the line of the East and West Yorkshire Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the Pilmoor, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough Railway...note 1st and 2nd stations
It then follows the line of the Thirsk and Malton Railway
It then follows the line of the Malton and Driffield Junction Railway
It then follows the line of the NER Driffield to Selby Line
It then follows the line of the Great Northern Railway Main Line
It then follows the line of the Varsity Line
It then follows the line of the Buckinghamshire Railway Verney Junction to Banbury Line
The journey ends at the closed station of Banbury Merton Street

The first closed station on this journey is Hessay

I wonder if Rule 6 could be said to cover this query.
