I think that was the name of the junction where the Dornoch Light Railway branched off from the line of the Sutherland Railway. The railway station itself was always known as The Mound....but to continue.....

You seem to be right. Based on photographs that's what the station nameboards have shown since about 1902, although I have two sources which refer to it as "Mound Junction". Interestingly the OS map title (not always a reliable guide to the railway's name for a station) is: 1873 (prior to DLR construction) - "Mound Station"; 1906 - "Mound Junction".
