Welford Road was an LNWR ticket platform originally (later open to the public) and had a platform only on the down (northbound) line about a mile south of Leicester. We were travelling north between Wigston and Syston Junction so could call there.

Note about Queniborough - I checked this last time we passed this way and Queniborough ROF was actually between Syston Junction and Rearsby, not between Rearsby and Brooksby as suggested on the Wikipedia page for this line.
