OBSERVATION

Both Llwydcoed and Abernant were on the Vale of Neath branch line that then had to use the 2497 yard long tunnel in order to access the terminal station of Merthyr High Street, so they were not on the Vale of Neath main line that went towards the line connection point with that of the next line on this journey, the Taff Vale Extension Railway.
