We shall now have another quiz journey leg similar to the Wigan Central to Stockport Tiviot Dale leg, where both the starting and ending stations are CLOSED, unlike the normal quiz requirements of having OPEN stations at the start and finish.

This new journey starts at Ilfracombe on the Ilfracombe Branch line,
then follows the line of the Torrington Extension Railway,
then follows the line of the North Devon and Cornwall Junction Light Railway,
then follows the line of the North Cornwall Railway to its final closed station at Padstow

The first closed station, as already stated, is......

pardon my ignorance, but isn't Barnstaple Junction now known simply as "Barnstaple", or was there another "Barnstaple Junction" on a different site?

I am glad to oblige, as this matter was something that came up in my researches many years ago into the railways of this area. A goods station, but with a limited passenger use on "mixed" trains was opened on 20th July 1874, but the decision was made after a very short time, to discontinue the passenger facility and to insist that passengers used the main railway station.... However, I did name it, as it had carried passenger traffic,albeit for a very short time.
