Just been reading some fascinating industrial history concerning the Wet Earth Colliery which was near Dixon Fold station on the Manchester to Bolton line. It was linked to the LNWR Clifton Branch and thence to our route between Molyneux Brow and Clifton Junction by a branch marked on an old OS map as the "Wet Earth Railway".
