I have been trying to find out more about Mount Street station in Brecon. The location is clear enough on the 1888 map, west of Free Street station (not east as is shown in the Wikipedia Neath & Brecon entry) but platforms are not shown. It had been closed for 16 years by then. There is conflicting information about it. Wikipedia sources suggest it belonged to the MWR, yet the Welsh Railways Research Circle note that the N&B was opened from Onllywn to Brecon Mount Street in 1867, with Free Street being built in 1871 - which implies that it belonged to the N&B, or at least that their trains operated out of it for four years, which makes it likely that there were platforms on a through line rather than being on an east-facing spur as suggested by Wikipedia. More work needed, I think!

I left out Swansea Victoria because as I read the maps it was a terminus facing west, with no platforms on the through lines from the Vale of Neath Railway.

It is a point of query to leave Swansea Victoria out on the line we currently traverse. There were services from Swansea Victoria to Pontarddulais in 1964 and I travelled on one of these.
