This temporary station was situated on the other side of the viaduct and as such has never been used on this quiz owing to the proximity of the station in Knaresborough. Whilst the actual road was called Hay-a-Park Lane, that station was known as Hay Park Lane.

Another example of where Rule 4 applies.

Hay (a) Park Lane appears to have been east of Knaresborough and around 1000m from the current station so I don't think the application of Rule 4 is appropriate.

The exact location of that station is unknown according to the Disused Railways website article, which has an map extract from the OS map of 1854 with two locations where Hay Park Lane met the railway line.

I have always taken it as being the nearer of the two to Knaresborough as the contractors working on the new Knaresborough station could bring their materials there much easier. That being the case and there being no hard and fast evidence to the otherwise, I still maintain that Rule 4 applies, as it was well within the accepted nearness that governs Rule 4.

Rule 6 has been expanded to obviate any such queries of this type in the future

(Not a closed stations issue, but I noticed on the OS map a line from Ollerton (LD&ECR) to Farnsfield on the Midland route to Newark. The odd thing about it is that isn't shown on any of the rail atlases I have. The best I can find out is that it was a joint LMS/LNER line built just before WW2 - originally intended to go to Retford but never completed, hence the rather odd layout at the junction with the LD&ECR.)
