OK here is a riddle (sorta)

If a train is Due to arrive at a station when the clocks go back, does it arrive an hour early?

If a train is due to arrive when the clocks go forward does it arrive 60 late?

If a train journey is booked to depart Derby at 0000 and arrive at New street 0000 (as the clocks go back at 0100 for example I don't know when NR do their clocks but lets pretend its 1 ya) whats the trains average speed 1000mph?

(use railmiles for that one)

Just 3 random things that popped into my head on Sunday while making a cuppa, is it a quiz? yes no maybe but worth a thought don't you think

The answer to your riddle lies in why they make the official time the clocks go forward or backward 03:00. Most services except for sleepers and the late Transpennines are finished by then.

I thought it was 2am that they changed, with the time changing from 01.59 to 03.00 in March and 01.59 to 01.00 in October. This year it seems to have happened an hour earlier, at least as far as the national rail website was concerned. Normally early Sunday morning trains leave St Pancras for Bedford at 0002,0017, 0032, 0102 and 0132, last weekend the website showed the departures as 0002. 0017 0032, 0202 and 0232.

The 01xx hour is the one affected by clocks changing. They skip from 00:59 to 02:00, and revert from 01:59 to 01:00.

Technically speaking the speed would be infinite, lol as anything divided by 0 is infinity!
