Cleaning Class 700 stock

Why has it not proved possible to design carriage washers which clean the inward pointing part of the class 700 body profile (the bit at the bottom of the body)? While the top three quarters of the carriage body aren’t too bad the bottom seems continually caked in dirt, which is all the more obvious given the pale paint of the units.

Automatic train washes tend not to be profiled which means the bottom taper as well as carriage end taper on longer carriage stock often gets a less effective clean. Additionally a lot of stock is still hand bashed and the bottom taper is harder to wash as the cleaners are generally equipped with long poles which reach as far as the cant line but are cumbersome when cleaning the lower section.
