I've noticed over many years of travel on the railway that air vents, aircon outlets/intakes etc on rolling stock of all types are pretty much never cleaned, left with an obvious buildup of muck that would be easily removed with a quick brush or vacuum cleaner (as it's usually easily removed with a finger as well).

Why is this? Even TOCs that seem to give a high priority to cleanliness (e.g. LM south WCML services) seem to miss this basic point.

I don't know some of the 450/444s cleanliness leaves somewhat to be desired of recent, all it needs is vent duster running along them once or twice a week to keep things looking decent, some of the panels are grey with dirt & dust, it doesn't reflect very well on the company.

I've often wondered the same on GA's 360's, just looks like fluff on the ceiling vents that would easily come off! Much like how bathroom extractor fans can get fluffy if not cleaned

SWT's desiros are looking decidedly grubby at the moment. A shame because they used to tae a lot of pride in their fleet.

I think there's an issue with some of the CWM's at the moment, I notice that some are cleaner than others.

I like to know the reason why they've not hired some industrial pressure washers to wash them and get some heavy cleaning done internally too, it's a shame because when they're clean they look alright, when they're dirty, they're a disgrace.
