The C6 started a while ago. Most of the heavy maintenance has been done, its the interior fixtures and fittings/exterior that will be done in Kilmarnock.

That 334 is the prime example of what all trains should be liveried like in the UK. The outside is flawless, and the inside is like something you'd find in a dream. It works well with the announcements but the back train that isn't reliveried could do with the paint job soon! :P

Saw 334020 at Clydebank last night. It's looking pretty. There are pictures at scot-rail.

- Outside reliveried like 006 and 012.
- Halogen "doorstep" lights replaced with LEDs.
- Chairs recovered in Saltire blue and mint-green metalwork repainted white.
- New floors.
- White walls remain, but bottom of walls is now grey. It looks like the walls no longer have fabric/carpeting.
- New internal metal window edges. The original plastic and rubber ones were damaged/vandalised/removed within a few years of service.
- Toilet door painted blue. Carriage end-doors have orange "don't walk into the glass" strip replaced with a blue ScotRail strip, like the 380s.

The only thing that could have made them better is replacing the awful seating in the middle carriage with 2/2 seats. Those 3/2 seats are awful and I always avoid the middle carriage as a result.

I really dont see the point of 3/2 seating (okay I do, it ticks the box of the "number of seats provided" on any given route) because the middle seat is very rarely used and just takes up floor space which would be better used for standees.

I agree with the 3+2 seating, mainly because the number of times I've used these trains I've always prefer the front or rear coach simply because of the 2+2 seating these coaches provides.

They already have LED tail lights.

They've had considerably more work done to them than the SWT 458s, which only had new flooring and seat covers. Any damage to the interiors has not been repaired.

I always thought these units were great even before refurbishment, but then again our local trains are 142s!

You have to remember that lights on the front on the train are so other people can see them, IE track workers rather than for the driver to be able to see where hes going. The lights on the 185s are so bright you are blinded by them!

I watched 334020 pull in and it didn't look like it had new lights.

I always thought the 318s' mix of normal headlight and LED light makes them look like Marilyn Manson with his strange white contact lenses.

New seat covers, floors and relivery plus gangway replacement

I was in Edinburgh last weekend and rode 334020 from Bathgate to Haymarkey. It is a remarkably modern train to be refurbished already, but this is an appropriate alternative to trains in Edinburgh having Strathclyde Passenger Transport logos.

I rode to Bathgate from Milngavie last year, so completed the picture by riding the electrified line from Edinburgh to Bathgate this year.
