Class 91 Thunderbird?

There was a UID Cl91 in the sidings at Kings Cross this afternoon beside 67019. Is this a failed loco, a spare loco or a thunderbird? Haven't noticed it there before and thought that Cl91s were in relatively short supply, particularly if some are in a workshop getting grey and white paint somewhere...

Could be related that a London-bound NXEC set passed my FCC with loco facing north, maybe about to be swapped? Any ideas??

91s are often to be found there. Sometimes they haul ECS rakes off Bounds Green, then sit in the bay until they're required to do a loco change. Or come straight in for that purpose.

The 91 should always face North. A spare at Kings Cross is fairly common.

Yep they do, my bad. Although an NXEC reversed via Gateshead sheds after I boarded southbound at NCL a couple of weeks ago so it ended up on the south end - problem with DVT maybe... who knows!

Which FCC train were you on? I worked up to London that afternoon and passed a failed NXEC at Connington with a northwards facing loco coupled at the London end of the failure..it later passed me,and when I arrived at KX the 91 was stood in the sidings with the 67.

1636 off KGX, a pair of 317s which I think divided at Letchworth, either that or one fell off the end at some point!
