Class 91 departure sound

Now we all know that lovely sound that the Class 91s make when they start moving. I believe this is the traction motors kicking off, am I right?

BUT! At what point in the departure process do they start making that lovely racket? Is it when the driver selects forward/reverse? Releases the brakes? Moves the throttle? Or when?

I've been wanting to know this for years!

Also, do the Class 90s make the same noise? (I've never seen one leave a station/depot before).

I believe it is the cooling fans kicking in when the driver selects forward, though I could be wrong!

The racket is the blowers starting (traction motor and radiator), this happens when the driver moves the master controller away from off, 91s have for/rev/aux.

The 90s, as well as 86s and 87s, all do the same, although the noise differs due to the different motors.
