WIthout getting all political i'd have thought it was easy by just blaming the 'last lot' and go bleating on about the state it was left in.
Sounds like its come full circle since 1994!WIthout getting all political i'd have thought it was easy by just blaming the 'last lot' and go bleating on about the state it was left in.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has apologised for East Midlands Railway (EMR) services being "unacceptable" due to problems with a new fleet of trains.
Issues with the new Aurora (Class 810) fleet led to months of delays, cancellations and overcrowding on services, as well as strike action by RMT union members.
810006 hasn't left St Pancras yet on the 1735, National Rail departure boards state fault on train.810010 terminated at Chesterfield after working 1F35 from London, as it was getting progressively later throughout its journey.
It’s return service from Chesterfield to London seems to be running okay (for now).
Was subsequently going to terminate early at Leicester but the whole diagram ended up being cancelled, due to a fault on this train.810006 hasn't left St Pancras yet on the 1735, National Rail departure boards state fault on train.
It’s all hot air from Alexander. The apology is emptier than the vacuum in space. The BBC article linked in #7702 has been republished with an added Heidi Alexander apology, on account of her visit to Derby to unveil the new GBR Chair and HQ. It's good to see her taking some accountability for the performance of her contractors, as any other service provider would be expected to.
I saw nothing else of note, but link below for completeness. Off-topic for this thread, but part of the fallout from the the Cl222/810 fiasco is the limited attention to the dreadful performance of Connect (not able to find 12 working units today either). I don't think this is causing anything like the embarrassment and action by senior folk that it should be.

Before Alexander apologises, the CEO of Hitachi should have ‘Fallen on his sword’ for bringing disrepute to his company! But in the real world, politicians only set strategic policies because they don’t necessarily have the expertise to do more. It’s all hot air from Alexander. The apology is emptier than the vacuum in space.
If she genuinely meant the apology, she would have apologised as soon as things got chronic. Instead, the government have finally realised that they have egg on their faces, blaming the previous government is a tired excuse and that any issues with GBR are down to them.
