810013 is once again pencilled in for 1C17 tomorrow (14/01), subject to the usual caveats. This should be its first outing in public service
Hopefully if it does, that will be the 5th unit accepted into service.

Its official 013 is on DY701 today.

Looks like #11 has come to grief in the Syston area- 1F15 terminates derby & 1C38 restarts derby-presumably to become a 222?

Whoops!

It's good that we've reached a point where another 810 can deputise for a failed one.
Yep, I think that’s quite an important milestone in curing teething problems - less reliance on the 222s, especially seeing as they won’t be around forever.

Did a set fail and needed rescuing yesterday, saw 011 iirc running south through Wellingborough about 1450.
Then I saw it again at 1615 heading north through Luton as a 10 car.

The 10 car you saw will have been units 003 and 004, which are currently being used for multiple unit testing

With the number of cancellations on EMR today, it's likely there was no 222 available to deputise.

I've noticed 222003 hasn't been out since Friday, so it makes me wonder if it's been stopped to get 002 working to depart soon. 222011 has also failed 3 days in a row too. We're definitely at the point now where 810s need to be out to provide a full service.

Same thing each day on 222011 :(

003 is now out of service to be prepared for handback to the leasing company. 004 will follow shortly

So four Class 222's - the longer 7-car sets - are now out of service - and only two 810's diagrammed daily to replace them. And it continues to remain challenging to run two full Class 810 diagrams each day despite having five serviceable units to allocate to those diagrams

Once 003/004 leave it will have been five 222s replaced by five 810s. The third 810 diagram should begin fairly soon plus more 810s coming in before the next 222 leaves

I've noticed on Realtimetrains that the runs from Old Dalby to St Pancras and back are timed as for class 360 at 100mph under the wires.

Presumably the full speed electric testing for double 810 units will be in the near future?

Just a couple questions about the 810s that aren't yet in service, if anyone would have any answers that's be great thanks.

  • Do we have any news on 810002 and its holiday to Italy, and whether it's still there any more?
  • What's happened to 001, 005 and 007 as they seem to have been skipped over in the process?
  • Do we have a time scale for 810003 and 004 at GBRf and how long they have left there, (I am pretty sure they're doing Multiple Unit Testing over at Old Dalby, is that the final testing phase needed)?

Thanks

005 and 007 both remain at Newton Aycliffe, and seem to have a lot of rectification work to do to bring them to required standard. I believe a full rewire of each unit is taking (or has) place.

001 is also at Aycliffe to turn it from an empty shell test unit into a fully fledged fully fitted out EMR unit.

002 no one can confirm anything about where it is.

The timing data on RTT doesn't specify the speed that a service will actually operate, only the data that was used to generate the schedule.

As it's not a passenger service, there's a lot of flex in the timings anyway, it doesn't matter if it runs a bit early and then has to sit in a loop for a while before proceeding.

Not really, the first handful of units built will always be used for testing.
And consequently will, more often than not these days, be left to last for service introduction. As the early units take longest to adapt to 'production' specification.

005 and 007 are not part of the test programme, they are part of the group that needed rewiring and other fixed following the discovery of Thermal Events

Fully agree with your comment though, in regard to 001-004.
