Hearing things that tomorrow's entry into service tomorrow has been postponed
I was wrong - it didn't even reach Derby on its ECS runThis has got disaster written all over it. Stinks of panic over losing the Meridians to Lumo and being short of stock along with the usual political situation of "let's just get one unit into service to meet the latest dates we have promised."
My prediction is that the first unit in service will reach Derby on its ECS run before it fails and is returned to depot![]()
I still hold out a slither of hope that some sort of major snag prevents a December start and my “surely not” prediction of 2026 becomes trueI was wrong - it didn't even reach Derby on its ECS run![]()
(2/12/25)Apparently they will start next Tuesday with 2 diagrams
Previous posts suggest the 810s will be next TuesdayAccording to rtt, the 11:32 is booked to be 222004.
222004 is on 1C17 this morning, so will be on the 11:32 as well if it continues to follow the same diagram all day.According to rtt, the 11:32 is booked to be 222004.
Do we have any hints as to why it's been put back a week, e.g. actually technical issues which might or might not get sorted in time, or other issues (like crew training not completed) which probably will get sorted? I.e. do we have any clue how likely they are to hit the new target?Apparently they will start next Tuesday with 2 diagrams
Same as the 170s. Julie.Yes, they do. Not heard them in anger so don't ask me what the voice is!
Because it is all from sources (and yes I know I previously reported they would launch today) nothing has ever been confirmed by EMR, other than stating the will introduce them 'from December'.It would be nice to get some reliable information. Until yesterday evening, it was reported that an 810 would be out today. No-one has explained why it didn't start today, so it was just a rumour then. Just as next week is probably just a rumour. The 810 introduction delays continue.
Why wouldn't the engines cope? These are the same engines that appear on Class 220/221 that have been to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and as far south as PLymouthThanks for the heads up I was going to go Wednesday on the 1130 from St Pancras to Sheffield in First Class , stay in my seat at Sheffield and return, but only the Leicester-Sheffield sector.
Just a quickie, Stirling-Euston for the Meridians, are the engines going to cope, especially during times of extreme temperatures?
Until it happens it's all just rumour - but I can tell you that an 810 trained driver was allocated specifically on an additional driver diagram to cover today, but for whatever reason it hasn't happened. The diagram number for the stock has also changed to AU701 from today (Aurora Diagram 701).It would be nice to get some reliable information. The word last night was that a 222 would definitely be on the diagram today and weds. That leaves the remainder of the week with an open question mark. Seeing that the plan was to soft launch today then one hopes whatever delayed that can be resolved quickly. Is there any chance that AU701 will be operated by an 810 later this week?
The only 810 out today is 810008, which is a test unit (as is 009), so not fit for passenger service until they are sent to be made so. 006/010 are the intended units for the first two diagrams but for whatever reason aren't 100% ready just yet, which is neither here nor there because the official launch isn't until December anyway. The whole reason it was announced to the press that it would be December rathsr than today is in case of a 222 needing to substitute last minute. Avanti did the exact same with their Evero units. Only staff and trainspotters would have known that an 810 is booked from today, so it's neither delayed (from the December start date) or an issue. If an 810 does enter service this week or next, even better. But remember the official launch is "from December"It would be nice to get some reliable information. We all want to see these things in service ASAP. So debating on whether the soft launch not happening today is a delay or not makes no sense. I'm guessing the 'soft launch is intrinsically linked to any official launch date because it will uncover issues that cannot be foreseen in test running - which everyone will want to iron out before a full official launch date. Let's hope today's issues are just small ones and the diagrams can be filled by 810's later in the week. More importantly everything has to be ready for the soft launch to proceed without any hiccups causing delays cancellation and stranded passengers. It wasn't just a rumour, there is an issue and the train isn't running, but I'm not divulging what the issue is. For those able to look at the unit diagram code and crew diagrams its now showing 810 and not 222.It would be nice to get some reliable information. Your professional insight on the project has been really appreciated (and I personally hope it continues!), but you must be reasonable in understanding just how many members do make declarations without a single verified source. Now, after a while, it becomes very clear to those whom have followed the thread for a while who is quite clearly in the know - for example, the wonderful LowLevel could tell me EMR are taking on the last redundant 455s and I'd believe him (I think it's a little rude to suggest that people are spreading a rumour when it was a fact and was a fact for the preceding 2 months when I left my cryptic message in September revealing it would be before the end of November, it was only 12hrs before departure that the decision was made to pull the 810 and run a 222/7.

In fairness, all the while the introduction has publicly been declared as "from December," it is not delayed. If they have planned to introduce an earlier service on the down low (as was expected today, of course) technically we as mere interested passengers are not entitled to know about it, and therefore aren't really within our rights to complain too much if it doesn't go ahead. If the public December date falls through, now that is something we are perfectly entitled to complain about. For now though, anything that does happen in November is more of a nice bonus. It would be nice to get some reliable information. Well said!Your professional insight on the project has been really appreciated (and I personally hope it continues!), but you must be reasonable in understanding just how many members do make declarations without a single verified source. I wouldn't require a source from you to believe what was said, for example.
However, the reality is - other people do just spread around things they've seen on Facebook groups or in messroom rumours. There are posts all over threads about the Auroras, the Everos, the Arterios, the LNER CAFs etc. claiming insider information and very often not supported with a source. Sometimes it becomes clear said posts have been made by people not involved with the projects or even the TOC. Exasperation towards these unverified posts is to be expected (and also perfectly reasonable!) and is not meant to take anything away from valuable posts made by informed individuals such as yourself.
You weren't directly quoted or mentioned in that post, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't aimed at you.

Well, I'd happily take a 455 to the top of the hill at Kirkby Summit and let it roll down through Newstead to Nottingham - I did pass two at East Mids Parkway the other day, might slip the guys at Litchurch Lane a fiverYour professional insight on the project has been really appreciated (and I personally hope it continues!), but you must be reasonable in understanding just how many members do make declarations without a single verified source. Might be the same ones I saw, funnily enough I was on 810008!Well, I'd happily take a 455 to the top of the hill at Kirkby Summit and let it roll down through Newstead to Nottingham - I did pass two at East Mids Parkway the other day, might slip the guys at Litchurch Lane a fiver![]()
Cant leave anything too long in Kirkby thats why its on the ROBin hood lineWell, I'd happily take a 455 to the top of the hill at Kirkby Summit and let it roll down through Newstead to Nottingham - I did pass two at East Mids Parkway the other day, might slip the guys at Litchurch Lane a fiver
Seriously though, appreciated - I am but a humble front line person but I am very much interested like everyone else!
