Does anyone know what the 800/801/802s will be like in comparison to current express train? By this I mean:

What will the window size be like?
What will the seat window alignment be like?
Will the interior style be similar to one of that found on a HST/MKIV/390?
Is luggage storage scarce or plentiful?
Is there toilets in each carriage?

Any help will be much appreciated, as usual :)

I'd like to know the number of fixed tables per coach in standard class. On the GW HSTs it varies between 2, 4 and 8.

I heard conflicting reports about a buffet/trolley service for standard class on GWR - does anyone know for definite what's planned?

There's a train technical specification that ainsworth74 and others have kept bookmarked over the years :D

If the original DfT spec that was published is actually met, the IEP intercity layout will have 50% airline and 50% bays in standard.

That's quite a big IF...

OTOH the 2012 DfT draft layouts had significantly more tables than most FGW HST layouts, up to 8 tables for 32 seats being a typical figure. I've attached the pdf to save searching online again. As those drawing say though, they are subject to change. I haven't seen anything recent that defines the exact first/standard ratio, presumably that will be adjustable to a TOC's specific requirements before delivery?

That is exactly what I thought, so my question still stands.

I don`t know of any standard class coaches with 8 tables on GWR HST`s?

I think the 425xx series has more tables than the other TS coaches so they might have 8, as they are normally carriage F which is not reservable they dont appear on any seating plan links that I can find.

If some are to be believed there will be a ramp in the middle of each coach that will be so steep that Munro and Wainwright would enjoy scaling them.

In reality it is hardly likely to be very noticeable (and certainly less of a feature than the ramps in the corridor between the cabs on the 444s and 450s).

I think the units that have so far been fitted out internally have the configuration as per the original DfT spec, so that's 8 tables per standard class carriage. Just about the right balance if you ask me.

The carriages modified to bring the 2+7 car sets up to 2+8 cars were mostly fitted with 8 tables in when they were introduced a few years ago. They also have softer lighting as retrofitted to the 1st Class carriages.

Carriage 'F' on the relevant sets IIRC?

Any reason why there's a separate thread for this. Can't this be merged with the main Class 800 thread?

They were not converted to bring the 2+7s up to 2+8 (that was either years ago or more recently the ex Buffet 402xx and 407xx to 42501-42520 with 84 seats), but when they decided to reduce the 1st class provision and increase the Standard class, so some 1st class carriages were reseated with 80 Standard class seats and more tables, these were numbered 42551-42582 and initially retained the softer (1st class) lighting, since replaced with the normal harsh standard class lighting.

These are normally found as unreserved coach E (not F as I originally posted).
