Another thing I noticed when I rode the 707 (on 17th Aug), was that despite being a 10car, the PIS will only show carriage loading for the 5 that you're on. So, I assume then that if you're in say coach 7 of the 10, it'll incorrectly state you're in coach 2? Or have they accounted for that? I didn't check personally as I was right up the front.

This is a South Western Railway Service partof those announcements sounds like about 6 different clips put together - awful text to speech crap.

I know, it's horrible. Had to listen to it earlier. The pauses are almost unbearable!

"The next.......... station is.................................................... Richmond."

A 2nd morning diagram has been brought to my attention. Empty to Guildford, 2Dxx up, down to Woking bay, back up then empty to Wimbledon. Dates pencilled in but subject to change.

Was on 707003+707006 yesterday. 707003 has SWR branding, 707006 has SWT branding. Looks very odd.

707s failed before working 2U14, 0723 Windsor-London Waterloo and were taken out of service.

There also seem to be fairly regular failures of locos hauling 387s being delivered to GW, maybe they need to use a mainstream FOC rather than a heritage stock operator...

You beat me to it. They're a good op, but I really think they should be using some more reliable traction when doing contract jobs on the mainline. It's getting a bit embarrassing for them; only a week or 2 ago 37800 packed up, plus the numerous other 37/47 issues, and the one off the road at Clapham.
If they're not careful these tocs will end up going elsewhere.

Locos finally made it down to Dollands today and brought the load up to Clapham this evening.

I would imagine so? The question is, in what livery? I haven't been to Clapham but I'm guessing 11 and 12 are in swt livery, plus any others that have already been painted so far? As for after that, I don't know.

Images of the construction process shows that the metalwork is painted red at an early stage - it isn't something that happens at the end of the build - https://www.siemens.co.uk/pool/news_press/news_archive/2016/swt-class-707-4-full.jpg - it seems probable that they are all painted red

For example, this appears to be a driving car from 707015 - http://www.bahnbilder.de/1200/desiro-city-class-707-fuer-997847.jpg

Given the expected period of operation for these trains and the fact that there are other short life units in red operating alongside I would have thought they will stay red. In fact, wouldn't there be enthusiast outcry if they wasted money on a widescale repainting exercise for 455s and 707s?

I don't know about the enthusiasts, but the commuters would probably have something to say about money being spent on painting them, the amount of misery they've suffered just about every day since SWR took over.!

Up to SWR then, but I would imagine they're aware it's probably not going to be worth re-livery if they're outing them when the Aventras are ready.? Think the SWR name decals will suffice.
