Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
Yup, a disappointed me is at Clapham Junction knowing it has been cancelled. Several members of staff are saying they will attempt to try run the train next week, but failing that, it will be September instead at SWR. They will not run during the duration of the Waterloo works.

Indeed, it was I who asked them. Seems they are still having software issues according to the Siemens guy I spoke to last week at Reading.

And rather embarrassingly, the 345 has beaten it into service, despite the testing of the 707 being described as well underway whilst the first 345 was only just heading for Old Dalby*, whilst Siemens were introducing what was fundamentally just a 700 clone, whilst the 345 was a whole new family of trains (the extent to which this is true is something that can be argued about however!)

*Admittedly, the 345 had been on the Derby test track since May, but equally the first 707 will have also been running around long before heading to Wildenrath

What colour were they painted? I could understand a 700 being parked there, but can't see why a 707 would be parked there

I wouldn't mind a bet on this being the likely suspect. Departed last night, arrived early hours. Can't see any other reason for a move from wim.pk.

That'll be 001 and 002 then. I wonder if they're looking to see if any of the software issues are present on AC as well as on DC.?

Edit: just passed them a minute ago, still in same place.

Actually, I've just realised this, NXG is the three-letter code for the station. Depot codes are two letters, for New Cross Gate TMD this is NG.

Rash guess but maybe Siemens or the ROSCO want a second opinion on the 707s from someone other than SWT. They are the Pantograph fitted ones but perhaps some testing on a line with newer third rail (out of New Cross depot onto the ELL) was thought representative.

What could happen if they don't soon get sorted out? Does the receiving leasing company have the right to retract the whole order if they're not up to scratch within a certain time frame?

Who knows, depends what was in the purchasing contract. More likely to be along the lines of liquidated damages before the likes of outright rejection is considered.

I think until they accept one into service it is not the ROSCOs problem. I imagine Siemens' field engineer resources are focused on the getting the 700s into service and keeping them going. So perhaps the 707s are relatively neglected ?.

Perhaps they just wanted to do some planned maintenance on the 25 kV systems as it fell due, and the facility at NX depot was available at the right time? There's a risk of overcomplicating matters.

Presumably if they'd done any hypothetical third rail testing on the ELL we'd have heard about the movements by now?
