Oh my god, that looks horrible. My one year old could come up with a better livery. The red doesn't flatter the 455s, but this is by far going to be the worst livery on British network. Please let First Group win the SW franchise (just for a better livery)

It's probably worth pointing out that it'll probably look better when it's had the swirls and SWT logo applied, it does look a bit garish at the moment without them.

Is it not probable that there is still some vinyl to apply to match the existing inner suburban units? Such as yellow door surrounds and some sort of front end 'swoosh'? If so, will they be vinyled in Germany, or after arrival here?

That gives an idea of what it'll look like once the vinyls have been applied.

Where the Thameslink & GN 700s delivered from Germany with their vinyls in place? I'd imagine it'd be the same (whichever way it was) for the SWTs 707s

I didn't think they had any block colours using vinyls comparable with SWT, but didn't they come with the Thameslink logo on?

From memory and a look around online, most if not all of the SWT Desiro Fleet arrived in the UK ready and complete with branding. So I would say it's probably fairly likely that the 700s will arrive over here ready branded and ready for service.

Great put thousands of people through TUPE and possibly redundancy because you don't like the livery ......

They won't change the livery. Just the name in the side of the train.

I love the bright red. The 455s and 456s look great in it and I think it really suits the 707s too. Never a dull (grey / beige / green) moment with SWT stock, unless you count a filthy 444 or 158 or 9.

Have to say I think they should all be painted white and vinyl used by the TOC of the day. Then, just like logos which are stuck on top, the whole livery can be peeled off if and when there's a change of TOC or a TOC merely decides to rebrand.

yep, i just think there should be a standard livery everywhere within reason, and use of the BR logo.

The TOCs should be allowed to put their logos on and thats it.

The days of garish liveries like Silverlink, South West Trains, ONE, First Barbie are surely over.

I'm glad that certain garish liveries are gone, but it would be boring if all trains across the country had the same livery. Each company should have a distinctive livery as part of its brand and publicity, and don't forget that BR felt the same way. Fortunately, I don't think we'll be seeing your idea coming to fruition.

I quite like the Pendos, some of the most stylish trains on the network. I didn't like the stripey doors in them and I think red doors would have looked better, but at least Virgin are ditching the stripes.

just like their buses. Stagecoach colours bloody everywhere!

The trains don't have to be white in service, just painted that so when a train is debranded it goes back to white, not bright red, green or purple.

i know it sounds a bit old hat, but the days of the few BR sectors were fine....NSE, RR, IC, RES, and the freight companies.

Im not saying bring those names back but something similar.

The Blue/Grey era may have looked boring at the time, but if you look back now it looks professional and neat.

Yeah I must admit that I do like the 1965-82 BR livery for coachin stock. For me, it's a bigger pity that the intercity brand isn't used by any TOCs, and only appears in franchise titles and "IEP".

I think the Intercity name, livery and swallow had years of life left in it. Big shame it went.

Very much so, one of the best liveries of all time for British trains.

Speaking of liveries, I wonder how long it will be until someone photoshops NSE livery onto a 707...

They might explain it on leaflets, but even then, most people will just use their logic on the colour. For example, when I see red, I immediately think 'busy'. When I see green, I think 'not so dense'

Surprised it looks very different to the 700 heat map. Guess each TOC can really customise the software, which is perhaps a great thing or also an awful thing depending on your viewpoint.

It made sense when you had tables and power sockets that can, in theory, make it worth paying more for - or getting a seat when you otherwise may not.

The 700s are to make longer journeys so the case for first class is strong. The 707 meanwhile, are to make shorter inner-suburban journeys.

380s make even longer journeys, and they don't have first class. It seems counter-intuitive when everything else about the train is for maximizing loadings, to then turn around and have two first class sections, even if one of them is routinely declassified.
