Slightly different screen layout? Three separate panels this time? Not sure as I watched on my phone with a poor quality stream.https://www.facebook.com/BBCSouthToday/videos/1081311158626140/

As that is 707005 - Do we know how far Siemens are in the construction of the 707s yet? And how close they are to arriving into the UK?

That level of detail has never been made available yet. There's a service from Woking-Waterloo run currently by a 455, will that be one of the services taken over by the 707s?
Love the fact that the top comment is someone slagging off Bombardier for their build quality. It was 707002 on the test track that they were filming on for anyone interested, so I would guess that it anyd 001 are doing type approval, whilst 003 onwards will be first to arrive in Britain?

But in general, 455s will remain in normal use on the mainline side, but there will also be plenty of additional 450s and even some 458s to play with, so I suggest all you can safely say is that it is unlikely to be a 444 or a 159...
Something I don't understand - when the 458/5s were created, they were re-geared down to 75mph from 100mph as they didn't require the higher top speed. Why are the 707s going to be 100mph when they will be replacing the 458/5s?
The class 458/5s were regeared to avoid overheating I think.
If the performance of these new units is similar to 450s then a 90 second time to 60 mph on DC is rather slow compared with a 465 Networker.

456s freed up from Guildford-Ascot work too to allow more 10-car 455+455+456 formations. As seems to be a common theme in threads about SWT stock, I'm pretty sure we've gone over this all before!
I think they are mostly going to replace the 458s and I don't think that there will be any left over as there are currently about 32 358s?
That mean they will be mostly running on Windsor, Houslow loop and Weybridge via Staines.
Now with 1 - 2 seating there are going to be much less seating available. No chance of a seat from Feltham on the Windsors in the morning
Good job I am retiring![]()
I'm not sure whether I've missed something but are these trains 2+1 throughout? Because the Waterloo mock-up showed 2+2 seating.
Partially 1+2 but mostly 2+2. As is visible in the previously linked video.
OK I must have just noticed the seating on the section of video that was 2+1, I am glad they will be mostly 2+2
I had to keep stopping and starting the video, but at the point where Paul Clifton starts talking about it being a 'plain vanilla' train, (about 53s from the end) he is coming from a section that is 2+2.
It seems to be different either side of that inter-carriage gangway. Perhaps the singles are a priority seating area or something, there's an unreadable blue sign above them on the bulkhead?
Edited to add:
Paul Bigland has put up some interior shots of the different layouts starting here: http://paulbigland.zenfolio.com/p487954781/h7812b76b#h71e15259
OK from those shots the layout looks very similar to the 458s with a double row of single seats adjacent to the doors.
On the plus side I do like the open gangways between coaches. I think it will help prevent the situations where people are crammed into one coach whilst there are seats in other coaches.
Doesn't work too well on S Stock with longitudinal seating, don't see why it would work on here...
If they have the car loading diagrams as per the '700s, that should at least give them the information that they need to spread out. If thery still insist on packing themselves into a few cars then they can't complain.
"If there's so many seats at the other end, why dont some of these selfish idiots move down then? Not me of course, I'm really important so I need to be off first at Waterloo"![]()

I like sound of those, where can I get more info on the details of these new trains?
Thanks

On 03.09.2014, Stagecoach South West Trains (SWT) made public that it had ordered 30 Desiro City trains from Siemens. It involves five-car trains worth 210 million British pounds in total. Stagecoach South Western Trains is the second customer for Desiro City, a platform optimized for urban transport in Britain. Earlier, the Desiro City was ordered for the new Thameslink services in and around London.
The order runs through leasing company Alpha trains that will hire the trains to SWT. All 30 sets should enter service in 2017 as class 707. On 18.05.2016, Wolfgang Scheer was able to portray sets no. 707 001 and 002 during test runs at the T1 circuit at Siemens’ test center in Wegberg-Wildenrath (DE).
