It does move then!
I am holding my breath to see if 5Q70 (57303 & 701045) successfully moves in both directions.
As in exits from its reversal at Worcester at 16:02.

Its booked time at Clapham Junction is 19:50 1/2 -
That is 1/2 earlier than most previous runs iirc ?.
A heady 1 1/2 minutes earlier than the previous successful run on 23/02/2026.

It has now departed Worcester Yard. What could possibly go wrong now.

glad to hear it finally departed long Marston, final two 701/5 then next would be Bicester

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

I drove past Litchurch lane earlier today and 701003 appears to have been moved towards the yard throat. A move might be in the offing.
Can’t see anything yet, hope next week

Any sign of a new 701 diagram for next week? I’d hoped there would be given how many units have recently entered passenger service…..

There is one. Unsurprisingly replacing a 458/4 diagram. Well it's half of one 458/4 diagram and half of another. I'll type it out tomorrow if nobody gets round to it.

Does it include 2U09/2U16? This is a very busy service that is regularly short formed whenever there aren't enough 458s.

was going to say that one or the 0550 to woking off waterloo definitely needs to be a 10-car on the way up from woking. it's usually full by Hersham

Clapham Junction and 57303 + 701045 went smoothly by - no untoward sounds of dragging brakes of wheel flats. It was 28 minutes late and seems to have lost time gradually from Didcot to Acton.

At Clapham junction, while waiting, I noticed a sole 458/4 (412 ?) rammed and almost leaving passengers behind. It was the 20:13 to Windsor & Eaton Riverside !. That must have been fun in the preceding hours. Looks like the 701s are more needed now than has been the case.

RTT shwos that unit has been working solo all day An out and back to Weybridge this morning (arriving back at Waterloo at the heighth of the rush hour, 0859), a sojourn in Wimbledon depot then three round trips to Windsor this afternoon and evening, the second leaving, again, at the height of the rush hour - 1733 Must have been cosy in there..

Next week's new 701 diagram;

5U05 0550 Feltham Depot to Staines
2U05 0609 Staines to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U12 0656 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U15 0803 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U22 0923 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U25 1033 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U32 1153 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U35 1303 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U42 1423 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2S49 1622 London Waterloo to Weybridge
2S58 1810 Weybridge to London Waterloo
2V59 1937 London Waterloo to Hounslow
5V59 2022 Hounslow to Feltham Depot

On paper the pair of 458/4s this frees up are then used on the single remaining 458/5 diagram. The 458/5s then have no booked work next week. What happens in reality with the 458/4 availability issues is another matter.

701006 showing as in service today, 2C05/2C16 then back to the depot to begin with.

701006 now shown to also work after 2C16
2C17 0820 London Waterloo to Reading
2C28 1009 Reading to London Waterloo
2C31 1150 London Waterloo to Reading
2C42 1339 Reading to London Waterloo
2C45 1520 London Waterloo to Reading
2C56 1709 Reading to London Waterloo
2C59 1850 London Waterloo to Reading
2C70 2039 Reading to London Waterloo
2C73 2220 London Waterloo to Reading
2C82 2352 Reading to Staines

2C16 for 2C17 is a minus 16 at Waterloo on GBTT times, so plans could change again although
08:20 London Waterloo to Reading due 09:43 will no longer call at Clapham Junction, Richmond, Twickenham and Feltham.

Looks like it’s finally left Waterloo operating 2C17 so we have yet another unit in passenger service.

Now that 701s have been in service for a whole year (well, one of them has.........) I thought it timely to transfer the record of which units have run, and when, to a new thread instead of having it hidden halfway down the 701 thread in the "traction" area. I little thought when I started recording them that there would still only be six diagrams a year later

To date (January 9th 2025) only seven units have been in passenger service. (EDIT - By the end of March it is still only nine)

Totals, first and most recent outings (if blank, was in service on the day of the latest update)
(2024 dates in bold)
Number in parenthesis is the number of days in passenger service, regardless of whether it was a complete diagram or not.

So with no booked work from next week for the two 458/5s, I presume these will be the go-to reserve units for a while, and the 455s will finally be finished with?

Can confirm it was absolutely horrible. Control should really pull some stops at the inner stations when this happens to ensure those for Whitton/ Ashford and stations to Windsor not served by other services can board and not be delayed 30 mins.
Next week's new 701 diagram;

5U05 0550 Feltham Depot to Staines
2U05 0609 Staines to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U12 0656 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U15 0803 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U22 0923 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U25 1033 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U32 1153 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2U35 1303 London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside
2U42 1423 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo
2S49 1622 London Waterloo to Weybridge
2S58 1810 Weybridge to London Waterloo
2V59 1937 London Waterloo to Hounslow

This is my morning train. Pleased capacity is finally being increased on this one!
