Class 70 Seen At Etches Park

G'day everyone,

On September 10th on my way back to London from Derby there was a Class 70 parked up at Etches Park. I've no interest in trying to identify the loco but would be interested to know what it was doing there.

It was 70016, arrived for wheel turning on our lathe along with a few of their wagons. They send the odd one now and again as well as their 66's.

At least it wasn't on fire.

I've seen a really noticeable drop in the number of 70s coming through here on the WCML recently - any ideas why?

Maybe they are running at less obvious times down the WCML. But the Felixtowe runs might possibly be going East from Ipswich rather than via London. I seem to recall there was engineering work enforcing this for a while and in any case the non-London route is being improved for the container traffic.
