They should be coming into Newport Docks as per previous deliveries (hopefully without dropping one - or maybe that should read hopefully dropping them all). Going off the latest rumor it will be around January.

However, There was a report in a magazine (RM or Rail) which said that 70018-22 will be delivered in March 2012 along with 70013 which has had a few problems and hence will be delivered out of sequence, as for 70014-17 that is anyone's guess :)

I'm not a man in the know, just passing on what I've heard or seen/been told so you have at least some answer :)

Its getting about time the next batch set off from across the Atlantic, Last years delivery left the great lakes region just before the St Lawrence seaway freezes over evey winter. I seem to remember that the last batch of 70s arrived late December. I am a bit surprised that I have not seen any reports of the ship leaving yet. Last year I was watching its progress with baited breath.

If the ship is not on its way soon then I suspect it will not arrive until after Winter when the St Lawrence seaway un-freezes. Thats unless the ship is coming from a port further south (like was rumored for the last delivery !).

Thanks chaps - wasn't there a rumour "doing the rounds" a while ago that Newport Docks wouldn't be used next time after the incident with 70012?

Sort of yes, Class 70s are to be manufactured on license in Turkey however these will not be exported to the UK. The rumor was that they would be making them in Turkey and sending them via the Chunnel which we believe is not the case.

The biggest question is as Peter said, getting the ship out before the passage freezes like last year and how we have not heard anything about them setting off already.

In theory they could not use Newport but after all it is one incident and after it has occurred there I think that Newport is probably the least likely location for it to happen again in the near future.
