many thanks, very little info there :(
What do you want to know - diagrams?

If it helps, the class 70s work on various duties, including:

- a daily Felixstowe to Lawley Street Freightliner intermodal

- Freightliner intermodals from Southampton to Garston, Trafford Park and Wentloog

- a daily ballast train from Mountsorrel to Crewe

- a daily coal train from Liverpool to Ratcliffe

- two coal trains a day from Ellesmere Port to Fiddlers Ferry

- coal trains from Portbury to Rugeley/Fiddlers Ferry/Uskmouth

- a departmental service (normally MWFO) from Crewe to Carlisle

In addition to the above, there is usually a class 70 outbased at Earles sidings,
which can work cement trains to Dewsbury or limestone from Tunstead
to Ratcliffe/West Burton/Drax.

The conclusion is that you have to move around to see them all,
but Stafford is an excellent place to start, if you can be there from
11am to 10pm you may see up to five different examples (you should
still see at least three if you can only stay from 11am to 5pm).

Other than that, you will be lucky to see more than a couple
of different 70s at any given location.

If you subscribe to FMonline (see my sig line), I would be happy
to provide further assistance in hunting down specific locos if
that if what you require...

Location
Bristol
Several times recently I've caught the 09:22 off Bristol down to Southampton, and every time there have been 3 70s on/around Southampton Maritime Depot.

I once saw a 70 at Stalybridge. It was in front of a 66 hauling an intermodal, going to Crewe I expect.

How often do 70's normally go through Stalybridge? Not very often i'm thinking.

Thanks.
Callum.

Occasionally (I'd say once a month on average), they use the Saturday
only container train that you saw to get from Leeds to Crewe, but that
is usually a single 66/5.
