I am still unsure but I am sure I saw a 67 pass through Todmorden on a freight at around 1030 this morning. Can anyone confirm or deny that this was the case. It was heading Manchester bound and looked to be hauling coal or scrap metal by the look of the wagons. It COULD have been a 66 as I was quite far away at the time.

As a side note does anyone know what worked the 1513 Leeds-Manchester Victoria today?

Hiya,

I'm afraid I can't offer a definitive answer but... This website has a list of hoppers and wagons with pictures and descriptions, finding the right wagon narrows the type of freight right down and in doing so gives away the working as there is so little freight into Manchester these days (esp on the Victoria side of things).

At a first guess I'd say you saw 66055 hauling HOA's (or JGA's) on the 6J46 Peak Forest - Salford Hope Street & that it was running late.

I could be wrong though as I do not know the routing of the 6J46 & 6H60 (return working) once it has reached the top of Miles Platting (so I'm not sure if it even runs through Todmorden).

Either way I hope that has been a bit of help :)

There was a scrap train on the Chat Moss this morning, headed Liverpool way (possibly to Warrington), it had an EWS 66 on the front, don't know the number or where it came from though (definitely from or through Manchester).

67s can be used on freights (they have the same power unit as a 66), but are rare on anything but short freights unless they are double headed, due to the fact they are geared towards passenger and mail work.
