Class 66 through Cheadle Hulme

Hello all,
Around 1pm today I was boarding 323232 at Cheadle Hulme heading towards Stockport when a lone Freightliner Class 66 went past in the opposite direction on the line towards Wilmslow and Crewe. In the past 1 and a half years during which I have been using Cheadle Hulme Station at least twice a day I have never seen a Freightliner loco or any freight use that line.
My question is, does anyone have any idea what it was doing there?

0Z25 Guide Bridge to Crewe Basford Hall by the looks of it. Was a VSTP schedule worked by 66605.
