Class 66 in France

Not sure if this is of any interest but I saw a Class 66, nominally, 66026 in the goods yard in Mulhouse in Eastern France. Couldn't tell you whether it was supposed to be there, or was just lost.

It lives in France.

Its one of DB Schenker Rail (UK)'s European converted 66s that works in France for it's French subsidiary Euro Cargo Rail.

When are they due back in the UK or are they staying there forever?

They occasionally come back for heavy repairs at Toton other than that they stay in France, Freightliner have recently sent some 66s abroad, Poland?, recently.

It was Poland i believe, something like that was mentioned in Rail Mag (very rarely buy)

Yes, Freightliner have a Polish subsidiary, they currently have 12 Class 66 (or European Series 66)

The first 7 of them are original build for Freightliner PL but the other 5 are ex Freightliner UK locos. (Ex 66582, 66583, 66584, 66586 & 66625)

The polish Numbers are;

66001 Freightliner PL
66002 Freightliner PL
66003 Freightliner PL
66004 Freightliner PL
66005 Freightliner PL
66006 Freightliner PL
