Some rumour mill is, some those ESH Class 60s will eventually head to Ukraine to replace the wrecked locos they have and therefore need? From photos Ukraine and Russia are both putting old steam traction back into traffic

.
I seriously doubt it.
1.No maintenance base in Ukraine for MB engines, neither for locomotives of that type.It is completely new locomotive for Ukraine. It would be much more logical to send TE109s from Germany,as their maintenance base is in many ways unified with 2TE116(D49 diesel engine, bogies are same, auxillary equipment).
2.Not sure if you can put class 60 on 1520mm,as it wasn't developed for use on both types of gauge.
3.Haven't heard anything in the community about this.Only news about new locomotives were about Alstom two-unit electric locomotives which should come in 2027.
4.Ukraine hasn't put steam traction into regular use.

Sending 60's to Ukraine would be ridiculous.
Old complex machines with spares issues and unsupportable electronics? Breakdown liability waiting to happen.

What a country at war with limited resources needs is something that can be fixed with a hammer and a bit of wire, something indestructible like class 20 or 37, the Ladas of the railway world
