Class 59 or 66?

Hi,

I've been told that this is a 59 not a 66, is that so and how can you tell?

59s are much older. Don't know much difference though.

Because it's in Hanson livery to put it simply ...

EWS have some 59s, the number is on the side of those though.

Hanson don't have any 66s, easiest way to tell there.

With EWS, 66's have a bent yellow line, sort of like lightning, whereas their 59's have a straight yellow line over the maroon backdrop.

Also no Marker Light above the cab ona 59.

Its a 59 if:
a) It has no centre marker light above the middle of the cab windows
b) It has 2 american-style centre headlights
c) It is not in crap EWS Lightning livery
d) It doesn't ying like someone squeezing a guinea pig every 0.3 seconds
e) It shifts 2500 tonne trains with ease

It's a 66 if:
a) It struggles to shift its own body weight let alone a train..
b) It's in a crap livery

-all EWS 66's have the 'zorro' yellow stripe

59s are not smaller than 66s. When they were built, they only just scraped through the gauge test. Any bigger and they would have been rejected ....

silencer is slightly smaller by 13 3/4 inches

I thought a 59 was longer aswell. We get Class 59's for the Fareham, Botley and Chichester stone trains. It always makes people rub they're eyes when the double centre headlight appears in the distance.

They blind me (59/0's) when i drive past them on the GWML
